Man charged with woman's murder after attempted Mirrabooka carjacking

A man accused of running over and killing a 51-year-old woman while trying to steal her car in Perth's north has been charged with murder.

Mother-of-two Marija Karovska was rushed to hospital following the incident outside her home on Cedar Court in Mirrabooka on Friday, but she died a short time later.

The offender fled on foot and police launched a major search before arresting a man about 90 minutes later in Hamersley, nearly 10 kilometres away.

He was taken to hospital with injuries sustained during the incident and police were unable to question him on Friday.

On Sunday morning, a 25-year-old Mirrabooka man was charged with four offences including murder and stealing a motor vehicle.

He is expected to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
