Man charged with the murder of Daryl Fowler following fatal Leam Lane stabbing

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Gateshead.

Daryl Fowler, 28, died in hospital following an assault on Friday night in the Leam Lane Estate.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8pm following reports of a man sustaining stab wounds.

It is believed the incident took place inside an address in Chevington before the victim walked out into the street and collapsed.

A murder investigation was launched and three people were arrested in connection.

A 30-year-old woman was released with no further action on Sunday but now detectives have charged a man with murder.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Lee Wall, 43, of Chevington, in the Leam Lane Estate, has been charged with murder and will appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday).

"Emma Alexander Brown, 39, also of Chevington, has been charged with assisting an offender and will appear at the same court tomorrow.

"Specialist officers continue to support Daryl’s family at this difficult time and enquiries into his death will continue.

"Anyone who has information about the suspected assault is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 1097 11/09/20."
