Man charged with supplying firearm to terror suspect Talal Alameddine

A 21-year-old Sydney man has been charged with supplying a firearm to terror suspect Talal Alameddine, just days after the fatal shooting of police accountant Curtis Cheng.

Masood Zakaria is accused of providing a gun for Talal Alameddine in October 2015, the same month Mr Cheng was shot outside Parramatta's police headquarters.

Last year, Alameddine was charged with preparing for an act of terrorism, after allegedly supplying the gun used by teenager Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar to kill Mr Cheng.

However, court documents obtained by the ABC allege Zakaria supplied the gun to Alameddine four days after Mr Cheng's murder.

Zakaria was arrested Wednesday morning in Westmead by the New South Wales Joint Counter Terrorism Team.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol and supplying a firearm to an unauthorised person.

The matter went before Parramatta Local Court and Zakaria was remanded in custody.

He is expected to apply for bail when he appears again on Thursday.

In a statement, NSW Police said there was no ongoing threat to the community.
