Man charged with sexually assaulting underage boy on Scots high street

A man is facing trial accused of sexually assaulting a young boy in a Scots street.

Scott Halbert, 27, is alleged to have abused the boy in High Street, Paisley.

Prosecutors claim Halbert committed the offence in April 2019, when the boy, who is now 15, was just 13.

Halbert, of Paisley, Renfrewshire, denies breaking Section 20 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 by touching the boy inappropriately and making sexual remarks to him.

And he also denies a second charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive way by shouting, waving his arm in the air and following the boy and two others, then aged 12 and 14.

At a pre-trial hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday, Sheriff David Pender continued the case until next month for another pre-trial hearing to take place.
