More than year after a woman was sexually assaulted at her Rogers Park home, prosecutors have charged a 31-year-old man in the attack.
Christopher Nelson was denied bail Saturday on charges of home invasion and aggravated criminal sexual assault in connection with the Aug. 28, 2018 attack, Cook County prosecutors said.
Nelson entered the 43-year-old woman’s apartment without her noticing through a back door she had left open to cool off while she was working from home, prosecutors said.
Nelson grabbed the woman, covered her mouth and nose, and told her he was “not going to kill her. Just f—k and leave,” prosecutors said. He took her to a bedroom and sexually assaulted her.
In July, Chicago police detectives were notified that DNA evidence connected Nelson with the attack and the woman identified him in a photo array, prosecutors said.
Judge David Navarro ordered Nelson held without bail and set his next hearing for Monday.
