A man is accused of robbing two gas stations at gunpoint — one of them twice — in northern suburban Skokie and Lincolnwood.
Mario Banks, 24, of Chicago, pleaded not guilty to the charges last month in federal court in downtown Chicago, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Illinois.
The robberies happened:
- on Nov. 4, 2018 and Feb. 19, 2019 at Bucky’s Express Mobil in the 6400 block of North Cicero in Lincolnwood; and
- on Feb. 16, 2019 at Shell Oil in the 3000 block of Howard Street in Skokie.
Banks remains in federal custody, prosecutors said. He is charged with three counts of robbery and three counts of using a firearm during a crime.
Each firearm charge carries a 5-year mandatory sentence and a maximum sentence of life, prosecutors said. Each robbery count is punishable by up to 20 years.
