Man charged with 'number of road offences' after car gets stuck in sand at Scots beach

A man has been charged in connection with a "number of road traffic offences" after a car got stuck on a Scots beach.

Locals lined up around the Old Pier area in Stonehaven to watch the struggles of the motor which was bogged down in sand at around 10pm on Friday, July 23.

The car was unable to move on the soft Aberdeenshire sands, attracting laughs from locals.

In a viral clip shared online, the desperate driver was seen soliciting help from the driver of a four by four who attached pulleys to the back of the super car.

Cops have now confirmed that a 25-year-old man has been charged following the incident.

He is due to appear before Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, July 26.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with a number of road traffic offences, following an incident in the Old Pier area of Stonehaven.

"Enquiries were carried out by officers after a car becoming stuck in the sand, at around 10pm on Friday, July 23.

"The man is to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, July 26."
