Man charged with murder over shooting death north of Brisbane

A man has been charged with murder over the shooting death of Clinton Pollock in the front yard of his Deception Bay home, north of Brisbane, on Sunday night.

Police said Mr Pollock was shot in the chest after a confrontation with a group of men in Thompson Street just before midnight.

Mr Pollock's sister commenced CPR, but he died at the scene.

A 26-year-old man from Rothwell was arrested late yesterday, with detectives still appealing for anyone with information or relevant dash CCTV footage to contact police.

Police said a second man was in custody but had not been charged at this stage, and a number of other people were also being interviewed.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Hogan said yesterday was a traumatic event for Mr Pollock's sister.

"It's that time, especially around Father's Day, when families come together — it's an absolutely tragic event and she's devastated … and the family are trying to process through the grief," he said.

"[There were] some wonderful actions by the neighbours who've really come together.

"Unfortunately the man did pass away but they did their best."

The man will face Redcliffe Magistrates Court, north of Brisbane later today.
