Man charged with murder over fatal Kelmscott domestic dispute

Police were called to the Kelmscott property on Friday morning.

A man who is thought to be the son of an elderly couple attacked in their Perth home has been charged with murder and attempted murder.

The 42-year-old Mount Lawley man was arrested after a domestic dispute at the house in the southern Perth suburb of Kelmscott on Friday.

Officers and paramedics were called to the property on Ensign Dale just after 7:00am amid reports a man and a woman, both 72, had been seriously injured.

Dozens of forensic investigators and Homicide Squad detectives have spent much of the day at the scene.

Witnesses said they saw a man being arrested in the adjacent Frye Park, with the dispute believed to have begun at the house before spilling onto the street.

The charged man was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained before his arrest.

The family released a brief statement through WA Police.

"The family of Keith and Estelle would like to thank everyone for the love and support they have received, we ask that our privacy be respected during this very difficult time."

Roads and access to a public park in an area stretching almost a kilometre in each direction from the scene were closed on Friday.
