Man charged with murder over death of Scots dad in Arbroath

Police have charged a man in connection with the death of Frankie Melvin, in Arbroath.

Officers confirmed the 41-year-old will appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today.

Mr Melvin died at the scene of the incident close to a pedestrian underpass in Spitalfield Place at about 6pm on Wednesday.

Tributes were paid online to the well known 34-year-old father-of-four.

One relative wrote: “Fly high cuz totally devastated and heart broken thinking of all my family today.”

While a friend added: “He was one in a million.”

A police spokesman confirmed the latest development saying: “Police Scotland can now confirm a 41 year old male has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a Frankie Melvin in Arbroath on Wednesday 26th August 2020.

“He will appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday 28th August 2020.”
