Man charged with murder of woman in Ealing nearly 19 months after she was found dead

Young mother Vivienne Baraka was found dead in Ealing - (Met Police)

A man has been charged with murder almost 19 months after a woman was found dead at an address in Ealing.

Officers from Met Police were called to Riverside Close in Ealing on March 26 last year following reports raising concerns for the welfare of a woman.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers and paramedics from London Ambulance Service found a 35-year-old woman with serious injuries.

Despite their best efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was later named as a young mother, Vivienne Baraka.

A post-mortem examination showed she had died from compression to the neck.

Paying tribute to Vivienne, her family said: “Vivienne had an infectious smile, was a mother, sister, daughter and was a bubbly person who was full of life.

“Vivienne was outgoing and loved to support her family, friends and community.

“The family continues to struggle with her untimely departure and aren't sure if time will ever bring solace or healing after she was taken too soon from us.”

Vivienne’s family are being supported by specialist officers.

Alvin Githai, 43, of Uxbridge Road, in Ealing, was charged with murder on Wednesday, October 8 — almost 19 months after Vivienne was found dead.

He is set to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today.

Githai was arrested at the scene before being released under investigation. He was re-arrested on Wednesday and later charged.
