A 35-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 14-year-old Dea-John Reid.
Michael Shields appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court this morning on June 3, according to Birmingham Live.
The 14-year-old was knifed to death on College Road in Kingstanding at 7:30pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
West Midlands Police stated that a 38-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy remained in custody for further questioning whilst two other men and a 13-year-old boy were released without further need for action.
A post-mortem examination has uncovered that Dea-John died from a single stab wound to his chest on College Road.
Det Chief Insp Stuart Mobberley said: “This is a significant step forward in our investigation, but we are still pursuing all lines of enquiry to find anyone else involved in Dea-John’s tragic death.
“We are looking at all the circumstances which led up to the events of Monday evening and anyone who has information should contact us.”
