A man has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Camilo Palacio, the Met Police have confirmed.

The force said that Abass Ahmed, 22, had been charged with the killing of Palacio, who died on July 24.

Police were called to reports of a shooting on High Road in Wood Green at around 9.30pm. Officers, including firearms officers, attended and found Palacio with a gunshot wound.

Officers immediately provided first aid until the arrival of paramedics. Despite their efforts, Palacio was pronounced dead at the scene at 10pm.

Ahmed will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

A further six people have been charged as part of the Met’s investigation.

Devonte Jackson, 27, and a 16-year-old boy were charged on Tuesday with arson, assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

Milan Kaleja, 30, and Mohamed Ahmed Ali, 24, were charged on Wednesday with assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. They appeared in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Kaleja has been released on bail, and Ali has been remanded in custody, both to appear at Harrow Crown Court on August 30.

Omar Mohamed, 18, and Anas Ali, 21, were both charged with perverting the course of justice. Both will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

It follows a number of other arrests made by the Met as part of their investigation.

And a 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in Margate on Sunday has also been released under investigation.

Palacio’s next of kin are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
