A man has been charged with stabbing another man to death in a domestic fight last week in north suburban Zion.
Joseph M. Rollins, 40, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of La Torrance Finch, according to Zion police and the Lake County coroner’s office.
Zion Police Chief Kirk Henderson said Finch and Rollins were in a “domestic relationship.”
Police responded to reports of two people fighting about 10 p.m. May 31 in an apartment in the 4100 block of Barberry Lane, police said. A caller reported that one of them had a knife.
Officers found Finch, 41, in the parking lot with a single stab wound to the torso, authorities said. He was conscious and spoke to the officers.
Finch, who lived in Waukegan, was taken to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Preliminary autopsy results indicated he died of complications from sharp force trauma, the coroner’s office said. Toxicology testing is pending and his death remains under investigation.
Rollins, who lives in Waukegan, was arrested at the scene and remains held at the Lake County Jail on $2 million bail, Henderson said.
His next court date was set for June 20, according to Lake County sheriff’s office inmate records.
