Man charged with murder bid after woman allegedly ‘stabbed’ in Scots house

Police have charged a man with attempted murder after a Fife woman was rushed to hospital with serious knife wounds.

The 49-year-old man was arrested just minutes after emergency services were called to the scene on Leishman Drive, Dunfermline, on Wednesday morning.

A woman, 42, was found to have suffered serious injuries as a result of allegedly being stabbed during a ‘disturbance’ and was helped by brave neighbours at the scene.

She was then rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Her injuries are described as serious but are not considered life-threatening.

Police Scotland confirmed they have now charged the man in connection with the incident and he is due to appear in private at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today.

They also stressed that the murder bid is being treated as an 'isolated incident'.

Detective Inspector Chris Dow of Fife CID said: "We are treating this is a contained and isolated incident with no risk to the wider public.

"I would take this opportunity to thank the members of the public who came to woman's aid and assisted the police investigation."
