A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found at a house in northern NSW.
Emergency services were called to a home in Tweed Heads West just before 6pm on Wednesday after a welfare concern report.
Police arrived to find the body of a woman believed to be in her 60s and established a crime scene.
The woman is yet to be formally identified.
Officers later found a 25-year-old man with hand injuries on a street nearby.
He was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Hospital under police guard for treatment.
Once discharged, the man was taken to the local police station and charged with murder.
He was refused bail and will appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Thursday.
