Man charged with murder after student stabbed to death near Harrods

A man has been charged with murder after an Omani student was stabbed to death near Harrods.

Badir Rahim Alnazi, 23 is charged with the murder of Mohammed Al-Araimi, 20, on December 5 last year.

Mr Al-Araimi was attacked as he walked home from a restaurant in Knightsbridge.

He was knifed in the back and collapsed beneath a Christmas tree in Hans Crescent, near an entrance to Harrods.

The King’s College politics and economics student was the son of Sheikh Abdullah Al Araimi who founded one of the Middle East’s biggest property empires.

Sheikh Al Araimi’s Al Raid Group opened the £130 million Al Araimi Boulevard shopping centre in Muscat in 2018, which was modelled on Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush.

The family, said to be close to Oman’s ruling dynasty, reportedly spend much of the year in London and own a number of apartments in a block in Knightsbridge opposite Hyde Park.

Alnazi will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon.​
