A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a body was found dismembered and badly burned in a layby in Derbyshire.
Ming Jiang, 42, of Falconwood Way in the Beswick area of Manchester, was charged with murder on Sunday by Derbyshire Police.
He appeared at Chesterfield Justice Centre on Monday and spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
The victim has been named as Yang Liu, 36, of Salford Quays, and Jiang has been accused of murdering him between 5 and 10 October in Manchester.
The victim’s body was reportedly discovered on 10 October by a member of the public in a layby off the A628 near Tintwistle.
The headless corpse had been badly burned and was also missing limbs. It is understood to have been contained in a suitcase.
The identity of the victim has only recently been released. At the time of the body’s discovery, police were unable to match the DNA to an individual on the national database.
Jiang is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday over the murder. He has been remanded in custody.
