Man charged with murder after construction worker Sean O’Neill stabbed to death in west London

A man has been charged with murder after a construction worker was stabbed to death in a west London cul-de-sac.

Sean O’Neill, 30, was found with multiple stab wounds at 6.51pm on May 18 in Reynolds Road, Hayes. Despite the efforts of paramedics he died at the scene.

Met officers have now charged Shakil McCrea, 26, with murder.

McCrea is set to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Previously, police arrested another man on suspicion of murder who was later released on bail.

Sean O’Neill’s family said they were ‘completely heartbroken’ (Facebook)

In a statement, Mr O’Neill’s family said the 30-year-old had been “incredibly loved”, adding: “We are completely heartbroken by the loss of our beautiful son and brother, Sean.

“It is especially difficult given the violent and cruel way that it has happened.”

Friends also paid tribute to the Chelsea fan with one telling the Standard: “We met him in Spain back in 2017 and he lived over here with us for a good few years. He was one of the lads and we’re all devastated.

“He always had a heart of gold and he loved a laugh.

“He was kind and knew how to pick you up if you were ever down.”
