Man charged with murder after body of pensioner found in her north London home

Pepita Garcia - (Met Police)

A man has been charged with murder and manslaughter after a 74-year-old woman’s body was found at a north London address.

The body of Pepita Sarikecili, also known as Pepita Garcia, was found on January 13, after officers forced their way into her home on Reynardson Road, Tottenham.

A post-mortem later revealed her cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Met Police were called to the property following reports of concern for the welfare of a woman inside.

An investigation was launched and officers believe that Pepita had died the previous month.

Dominic Whitton, 41 , of Reynardson Road, was charged on January 22 with preventing a lawful burial in connection with the investigation and remanded into custody.

Whitton attended Wood Green Crown Court on Monday, October 6, where he was further charged with murder and manslaughter in connection with Pepita’s death.

He entered a not guilty plea to all charges.

Mr Whitton will next appear at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, December 12.
