Man charged with mobility scooter hit-run

A woman suffered multiple injuries when hit from behind by a motorised scooter on a footpath (AAP)

A man has been charged with running down a woman on his mobility scooter and then fleeing the scene, south of Brisbane.

The 62-year-old woman suffered serious hip, arm and neck injuries when she was hit from behind on a footpath near Beenleigh train station earlier this month.

Police say the mobility scooter rider did not stop to help her.

The 52-year-old has since been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, and possessing a drug-related utensil.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward, including members of the public who went to the woman's aid.

The man is due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 3.
