
A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of another man in Southwark last month.
Metropolitan Police were called to reports of a disturbance involving a group of men in the early hours of September 13.
Upon arrival, officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found a man with serious injuries.
He was rushed to hospital where he later died on September 17.
The man has since been named as Michael John Edwards, 43, from Nuneaton in Warwickshire.
His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.
Lewis Macleod, 36, of Hadleigh Road, Sunderland, appeared at Inner London Crown Court on Monday, where he was charged with manslaughter in connection with Michael’s death.
He had previously been charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm.
A trial will begin at Inner London Crown Court on Monday, 13 April 2026.
