Man charged with manslaughter after boy dies from snake bite

A man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a boy from a snake bite in Queensland's South Burnett last year.

The 11-year-old died at a property in Murgon, three hours' drive north-west of Brisbane, on November 21 after allegedly reporting that he was bitten by a snake.

The charge is the culmination of a 12-month police investigation called Operation Uniform Weft established to look into the boy's death.

Police allege the 31-year-old man, who was known to the child, failed to seek medical attention for the snake bite.

He is due to appear in the Murgon Magistrates Court on December 6.
