A former aged care resident has been charged with manslaughter over the death of an elderly woman he allegedly assaulted at the facility where they lived.
Canberra man Mario Amato, a 60-year-old who now lives in Melba, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mr Amato and Sheila Marie Capper, 89, were both residents at the Southern Cross Care facility in Campbell at the time of the alleged assault in November 2018.
Police allege that Mr Amato inflicted a number of injuries on Mrs Capper, including a fractured hip.
Paramedics treated Mrs Capper and took her to hospital, where she died on December 4, 2018.

Mr Amato was arrested on March 24 this year after what police described as an extensive investigation.
He was charged with manslaughter during a brief appearance in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, and pleaded not guilty.
Mr Amato had earlier been charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
No further details of the case against him were given in court, and the Melba man did not comment on the allegations as he left.
In an interview with The Canberra Times last year, Mr Amato said he felt like he had been "born again" after moving into his own unit following nearly four years in aged care.
Speaking when the federal government vowed to remove anyone under 65 from aged care by 2025, Mr Amato welcomed the commitment and said it was "not a place for young people".
It was reported that Mr Amato had entered aged care aged 55 as a result of brain damage he suffered when he hit his head during a seizure brought on by epilepsy.
Mr Amato, who is on bail, is due to appear in court again on August 19.
