A man has faced court over hundreds of alleged child sexual abuse crimes against more than a dozen victims in one of Australia's most remote areas.

The 34-year-old Western Australian man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.

He has been charged with 204 offences, including rape, indecently recording a child, producing child sexual abuse material, and bestiality.

Of the 204 charges, 195 relate to child abuse.

The abuse allegedly took place between January 2023 and November 2025 in several towns across WA's remote Pilbara mining region.

The man is accused of 63 counts of indecently recording a child under 13 years, 45 charges of sexual penetration of a child under 13 and 35 charges of indecent dealing of a child under 13.

He also faces five charges of having carnal knowledge with an animal, as well as various other offences.

The man appeared in court from Hakea Prison via video-link.

Defence lawyer Chris Sheehy applied for a suppression order to protect his client and the alleged victims, but it was denied.

Magistrate Benjamin Tyers said it wasn't required as legislation was in place to prevent the publication of such details.

Detective Superintendent David Palmer from the WA Police Sex Crimes Division previously said the alleged offending was an extreme breach of trust.

"The number and seriousness of the charges reflect the scale of the alleged offending and the significant work undertaken by detectives," he said.

"Children rely on adults for their safety and protection, and any allegation that a child has been harmed is deeply distressing for the wide community.

The man is scheduled to reappear in the same court on May 8.
