A cross-border investigation has led to the arrest of a man who allegedly produced child exploitation material and hosted it on a website.

South Australia's Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team arrested a man of no fixed address in the Fleurieu Peninsula on Monday after receiving information from Queensland Police.

The 25-year-old was charged with numerous offences relating to the production and possession of child exploitation material, including the hosting of a website dealing with child exploitation material.

SA Police Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Tomkins said the investigation posed significant challenges but officers never gave up on identifying the suspect.

"Alongside our partner agencies, we are absolutely committed to prosecuting anyone who goes after our community's most vulnerable," he said.

"Remember, everything you do online leaves a trace."

The man was refused bail to face Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
