Brown was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that morning when it hit another vehicle in the intersection, injuring the other driver, prosecutors said. Brown didn’t stop or report the crash.
Elgin police were notified seven weeks later that Brown reported his SUV was damaged in a Dec. 6 crash, prosecutors said. An investigation revealed it was a Dec. 2 crash.
Brown remains free on $1,000 bail and is due back in court March 11, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
