Man charged with drugs and assault offences after police officer 'injured by glass jar'

A 30-year-old was charged with drugs and assault offences after an incident in Wirral.

A man, who was riding an electric motorbike on Ditton Lane, Moreton, was seen acting suspiciously by officers after getting off the bike and going in to some shrubs.

As the officers approached the male he allegedly swung a glass jar hitting one of the officers causing a cut to his head which later required stitches.

The jar smashed on contact and a large number of bags containing what is believed to be Class A drugs fell to the floor.

With the assistance of two other officers the man was detained, but during the struggle one of the officers suffered an injury to his wrist.

Eric Bromilow, 30, of Wakefield Drive, Leasowe, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug (crack cocaine); possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug (heroin) and two counts of assault of police officer.

He has been kept in custody and will appear at Wirral Magistrates Court on Monday, 4 May.
