A 36-year-old man has been charged with serious domestic assault.
Around 3.25pm on Saturday, a woman was drinking with her partner at a property on Greenhill Road.
The woman received a text from a former partner which caused an argument that allegedly resulted in the man assaulting the woman.
Police were called and the man, despite having left the property, was traced and arrested.
Lanarkshire Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit are being supported by local police officers and a safety plan for the victim is in place.
