Man charged with dangerous driving after high-speed police chase through Bolton

A man has been charged with dangerous driving following a police chase in Bolton.

Officers pursued a Vauxhall Vectra along roads around the town and on to the M61 on Friday evening (December 4).

The car is alleged to have reached speeds of 130mph on the motorway.

Officers from GMP's traffic unit said the occupants then threw 'metal objects' at their police car, causing damage to the vehicle's windscreen.

The Vauxhall was eventually brought to a halt in Glynne Street, Farnworth, after being 'boxed in' by several police vehicles.

Two men were arrested and the car was seized.

Aidan Sherlock, 25, has now been charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving with no insurance.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday.
