A 24-year-old Brighton Park man allegedly carjacked two victims and head-butted a Chicago police officer during what a Cook County judge described as a “one-man crime spree.”

Juan Posos, on Sunday morning, first accosted a woman who was warming her 2010 Volkswagen Passat while her daughter played in the yard, in the 4000 block of South Maplewood Avenue, prosecutors said. Posos brandished a pair of pliers and the “frightened and distressed” woman ultimately gave up her car in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, prosecutors said.

As he drove off in the Passat, Posos allegedly crashed into two parked cars before running away.

Then, a few minutes later, Posos approached a man sitting in a Mazda 3, in the 4300 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, prosecutors said. That victim surrendered his vehicle after Posos allegedly implied he had a weapon in his pocket.

Shortly after, on Western Avenue, officers pulled the Mazda over.

During his arrest, Posos became irate and attacked an officer, kicking him in the groin and head-butting him, as he and other officers tried to transport him, prosecutors said.

Posos was apologetic and remorseful for the carjackings and the officer’s assault when he was later questioned, prosecutors said.

Officers found a pair of pliers on the passenger-side of the stolen Passat’s floorboard, prosecutors said.

Posos was charged with two counts of vehicular hijacking, one count of aggravated battery of a peace officer and a misdemeanor count of leaving the scene for what Judge David Navarro called a “one-man crime spree.”.

Navarro ordered Posos held on $500,000 bail. Posos is expected back in court March 8.
