A home was burglarized in the 13N600 block of Coombs Road on Sept. 23, and another was broken into in the 41W481 block of Plato Road the same day, the sheriff’s office said.

A resident provided detectives a license plate number from a vehicle that was seen in the area during one of the burglaries, the sheriff’s office said.

Montgomery, of South Elgin, was allegedly behind the wheel of the suspected vehicle when deputies stopped it in the area of Main Street and Middle Street, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken into custody after deputies learned he was driving on a suspended license.

A search warrant was obtained after deputies allegedly spotted items inside the vehicle believed to have been taken during the burglaries, the sheriff’s office said. Montgomery’s home was also searched.

Several allegedly stolen firearms, electronics and musical instruments were recovered in the searches, the sheriff’s office said.

Montgomery is being held at the Kane County Jail on $200,000 bail, according to court records. He is due in court Oct. 18.
