Man charged with attempted murder of waitress at East Ham restaurant

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a waitress at an East Ham Indian restaurant.

The victim, who witnesses identified as a waitress working in Hyderabad Wala, was stabbed multiple times by an attacker in Barking Road, Newham on Friday.

Sriram Ambarla, 23, was charged with attempted murder on Sunday.

He is due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The woman, aged in her early 20s, was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious, but stable, condition.

Sayuran Siva, who works nearby, said: “As the girl came out to give the food the attacker grabbed her hand and started stabbing.

“Normally we buy our food from there, she is a very nice girl. She is innocent.”
