Man charged with assaulting police officer at Shankly Hotel

A man has today appeared in court charged with assaulting a police officer at the Shankly Hotel in Liverpool.

Anthony English, 25, allegedly assaulted the officer the day after a huge brawl took place outside the hotel.

The two incidents are not linked.

English appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court this morning (July 27) before District Judge Wendy Lloyd faced with three charges.

He has been charged with assaulting a police officer, possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis.

The 25-year-old, of Laburnum Avenue, reportedly assaulted the police officer at the Shankly Hotel on Saturday, July 25.

He was represented by George White, while Andrew Page prosecuted.

English will next appear at Sefton Magistrates' Court on October 2.

He was released on conditional bail until that date.
