Police have charged a former director of an NDIS provider with assaulting and intimidating a key witness in an investigation into the neglect death of Adelaide woman Ann Marie Smith.

Ms Smith died in April 2020 from severe septic shock, malnutrition, multiple organ failure and other complications from her cerebral palsy.

She was an NDIS client who police allege was a victim of neglect.

Her carer has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Philip John Greenland, 57, of Huntfield Heights, who was a director of Ms Smith's former NDIS provider Integrity Care, has been charged with assaulting a key witness in the ongoing investigation into her death.

Police allege he verbally abused and spat in the face of the woman in September.

The man was also charged earlier this month with intimidating the same witness in December.

He has been bailed to face court next month.
