Man charged with assault after bust-up outside Scots Chinese takeaway

A young man has been charged with assault after a bust-up outside a Chinese takeaway in Hamilton.

The two men got involved in a scuffle outside the Jade Palace on Cadzow Street before police intervened and issued both with a fine.

Later police returned and sealed off the area outside the Chinese while they continued with their enquiries.

Police originally issued both men with a Fixed Penalty Notice, but later in the evening officers returned before charging a 20-year-old with assault.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers attended Cadzow Street in Hamilton at 4.30pm on Tuesday, 5 January after reports of a disturbance.

"Two men were issued with Fixed Penalty Notices."

Police later told the Record: "Later in the evening one of the men, a 20-year-old, was charged with assault in connection with the matter."

The man is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court tomorrow (Thursday).
