A North Somerset man was due to appear in court charged with four serious offences after he was arrested on Thursday.

Nathan Giles was detained in a police operation in the village of Wrington, near Congresbury, on Thursday afternoon at around 4.20pm.

The 31-year-old, from Rickyard Road in the village, was taken into custody and later charged with one count of arson, one of witness intimidation and two counts of assault by beating.

A police spokesperson said Giles was due to appear at North Somerset Magistrates Court on Friday.
