Man charged with alleged trespass at Buckingham Palace

Hiring: Buckingham Palace is seeking an assistant housekeeper

A man has been charged with trespassing at Buckingham Palace while allegedly carrying a knife and cocaine.

Cameron Kalani, 44, is accused of entering The Royal Mews at the Palace on May 10 this year, just days after another security scare for the Queen when intruders scaled the fence at Windsor Castle.

Kalani, from Haywards Heath in West Sussex, is due to appear at Westminster magistrates court on Friday to face a charge of trespass on a protected site.

He is also said to have been carrying a kitchen knife in Buckingham Palace Road on the same day, and allegedly had cocaine in his possession.

The alleged incident followed a break-in at the Windsor estate on April 25, when a couple are said to have climbed over an exterior wall.

Security was already on “high alert” when the couple were stopped, after reports that a woman had been mistakenly allowed into the Windsor grounds by a guard in the previous week.

Kalani, who has not yet entered any pleas, is accused of carrying a knife “without good reason or lawful authority” and having one wrap of cocaine in his possession.

It is said he was a “trespasser” and “entered or were on a protected site which was a designated site, namely The Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace.”

The Royal Mews is part of the Buckingham Palace estate, and plays home to the Royal Family’s horses under the care of the Crown Equerry.

Kalani is due to appear in court at 10am on Friday.
