Man charged over weapon stash on NSW train

A man has been accused of carrying a stash of weapons on a Sydney train service. (AAP)

A Sydney man has been charged after he was allegedly busted carrying a cache of weapons on a train.

Officers made the find during a routine patrol on a train service between Turramurra and Hornsby around 11am on Thursday.

Police say they spoke with the 36-year-old man in relation to an alleged transport offence, but upon searching the several bags he had with him, found an electronic stun device, a large knife and other items of interest.

The man was escorted off the train and charged with possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit, being in custody of a knife in a public place and having suspected stolen goods with him.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on April 14.
