A man has been charged after he allegedly urinated on a war memorial in Sydney's CBD.

Police allege the 25-year-old was walking through Hyde Park just after midnight on Sunday when he approached the south-eastern side of the Anzac memorial.

He then allegedly began to urinate on the building, police said.

Security officers detained the man until officers from Sydney City Police Area Command arrived.

The Randwick man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with committing an offensive act on a war memorial site.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on February 24.

In November 2020, during the week of Remembrance Day, another 25-year-old man was arrested and charged for allegedly urinating on the memorial.
