A man has been charged over a series of incidents at a suburban park including several fires, a bridge being cut down and trees chopped.
Police were called to seven grass and scrub fires at Mulgrave in Melbourne's southeast in September and October this year.
Detectives allege an axe was used to chop more than 50 trees and a bridge located in the park was cut down using a reciprocating saw.
A 28-year-old Mulgrave man was arrested on Thursday and charged with four counts of arson and two counts of criminal damage.
He was bailed to appear in court in April.
