
A man will face court after being charged with a spate of break and enters in the Hunter.
The man was arrested on Friday after several commercial premises in East Maitland and surrounding areas were broken into between late November and early December.
The incidents were reported to police and officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District Property and Drug Team began investigating.
As part of their inquiries, police executed a search warrant on a house at Blackett Close, East Maitland, on December 10 where they seized a number or items.
Following further inquiries, investigators arrested a 41-year-old man at a fast food outlet on Maitland Road, Mayfield, about 2.15pm Friday.
The man was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with 10 offences, including break, enter and steal; driving while unlicensed; aggravated break and enter dwelling, goods in custody suspected of being stolen, possession of housebreaking implements, possession of ammunition and custody of knife in public place.
He was refused bail and is due to face Newcastle Local Court on Saturday.
