A Brisbane man has been charged with attempted murder after shooting a woman in a home in the city's north on the weekend.

Police said the 23-year-old woman was shot at home on Handford Rd, Zillmere, just after 11pm on Sunday.

She suffered wounds to her arm and abdomen and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police arrested a 22-year-old Wooloowin man over the attack about 8.30pm on Monday.

He was charged with attempted murder, unlawful use of motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives, obstructing police and damaging evidence with intent.

The man was also charged with contravention of domestic violence order, but that charge is not related to the shooting incident.

He was denied bail and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police are understood to be looking for at least two other men allegedly involved in the shooting.
