A man has been charged with sexually assaulting two teenage girls on Sydney's northern beaches over a six-month period.

The 20-year-old was arrested at Sutherland Police Station on Tuesday and charged with four counts of sexual intercourse with child (aged between 14 and 16) and intentionally sexually touching a child (aged between 10 and 16).

Police will allege the man sexually assaulted the girls - then 14 and 16 - on numerous occasions in Sydney's north between last November and May.

The Kirrawee man was refused bail and appeared at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday, where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear at Hornsby Local Court on September 1.
