Man charged over online threats to MPs

A NSW man will face court accused of posting online threats targeting two government officials. (AAP)

A NSW man has been charged over alleged threats targeting Australian MPs posted on social media.

The 58-year-old, from Tamworth in the state's northwest, was arrested at his home on Tuesday.

Police say the threats were directed at two Australian government officials.

An investigation by the NSW Police Force Fixated Persons Unit had been ongoing since December.

Officers searched the home and allegedly seized several electronic devices as well as three cannabis plants.

The man will face court on February 8, charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend and cultivating a prohibited plant.
