A man involved in kidnapping a bikie associate months before his execution-style murder has been charged more than two years after the alleged crime.

The 27-year-old was arrested at Dawes Point in Sydney's CBD early Wednesday as police found $31,700 in cash during a search of his car.

He was charged with participating in a criminal group and taking in company with intent to ransom occasioning actual bodily harm over the abduction of murder victim Marvin Oraiha.

Mr Oraiha, then 24, was a low-level associate of the Comancheros bikie gang who was gunned down in his car at Elizabeth Hills in Sydney's west on May 22, 2023.

He had been ambushed shortly after meeting with his girlfriend in the afternoon.

Emergency services found him with multiple gunshot wounds and he died at the scene.

Police have charged 11 people over their alleged involvement in the shooting, after concerns of an escalating war between rival criminal groups.

Mr Oraiha's death was followed by a string of public shootings as gangs competed for Sydney's lucrative drug trade.

But further investigations have revealed Mr Oraiha had been kidnapped by a gang before his death.

Months earlier, he was abducted and detained at a Belfield unit in Sydney's west.

Throughout the night, his kidnappers sent images of the 24-year-old with significant head injuries to his family, demanding a ransom.

The 27-year-old allegedly involved will face Bail Division court later on Thursday.
