An Adelaide man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of an infant.

In April this year, a three-week-old boy was brought to the Noarlunga Hospital by his parents.

The infant was unresponsive, unable to be revived and was pronounced dead soon after.

His death was declared a major crime with a 31-year-old man charged with manslaughter and criminal neglect on Friday.

Police said the accused was known to the victim.

He was refused bail and was expected to appear in Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.
