Man charged over double stabbing outside Darwin nightclub

Two people were left in hospital following the stabbing outside the nightclub.

A man who allegedly stabbed a security guard and another man outside a Darwin nightclub has been charged by Northern Territory Police.

Police said 50-year-old Laurie Waters was ejected from The Lost Arc club on Mitchell Street in the CBD returned about 4:00am on Monday, armed with two knives.

"A security guard and another male patron attempted to disarm the offender," Detective Acting Senior Sergeant David Allan said.

"During this, the security guard sustained a stab wound to his shoulder. The patron sustained a stab wound to his thigh."

He said the offender fled the area, but was arrested by police a short time later.

Security guard Darryl Robins, 51, remains in the intensive care unit at Royal Darwin Hospital.

The other victim was released from hospital on Monday.

The alleged attacker has been charged with unlawfully causing serious harm, aggravated assault, and going armed in public.

His matter was mentioned in the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday, but Mr Waters refused to face the courtroom, instead remaining in his holding cell.

Waters did not apply for bail and will be remanded in custody until his case resumes in December.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the assault or the circumstances beforehand to contact them on 131 444, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
