Man charged over discovery of 700 cannabis plants in Weston town centre

A man was due to appear in court today (January 23) over the discovery of 700 plants in Weston-super-Mare town centre.

Officers found the plants at a property in Oxford Street on Tuesday.

Nguyen Chien, 26, was arrested before being charged with producing of a controlled class B drug.

He was due to appear at North Somerset Courthouse today.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police has said: "We carried out a warrant at an address in Oxford Street in Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday 21 January at about 2.15pm.

"Officers seized an estimated 700 cannabis plants.

"Anybody concerned about drugs in their community can contact us on 101 or report it through our website."
