Emergency services rushed to the scene but sadly 75-year-old Margaret died.

The road was closed for five hours to allow investigations to take place.

Following her death, floral tributes were laid near the scene.

One read: “Fly high Margaret. Rest in his arms”.

While another included the words: “Rest in peace Margaret. A very special lady. We’ll miss you. Always in our thoughts.”

Shocked Neighbours living in the street paid tribute to Mrs Meldrum.

One elderly woman, said: “Margaret was a lovely woman. I would meet her from time to time walking up to the shop to collect her husband Billy’s prescription.

"She didn’t like walking up the lane because of the state the path is in so she walked the long way round.”

Another woman who lives opposite the pensioner, added: “You couldn’t meet a nicer person than Margaret. It’s really sad.'
